I do have upnote and it’s a good app. Does anyone have gigabytes of attachments in Upnote to see how it performed? Evernote handled large notebooks well and over time this is crucial.
To be honest, at the moment I’m thinking of Google drive for files and workflowy for notes. Works everywhere. Both are tried and tested.
My reservation with Upnote is the sustainability of the finance model. If everyone is on a Lifetime licence where is the revenue for continuing development and infrastructure costs?
I admit that concerns me too, although I understand the developer’s costs have been constrained and growth continues. The lifetime cost has been increased substantially, although is still very reasonable.
Their main non-staff cost will be Firebase hosting which isn’t cheap. If people are storing gigabytes of attachments it’s then that their costs will increase beyond the revenue. That might increasingly be the case if there are lots of Evernote exiles.
Having worked in a software company that gave large discounts to get cash in the early days, it doesn’t work long term! Hopefully they can think of some new features to extract revenue from lifers like me.
