The last time I felt truly productive, typing, was in 1990

nb looks interesting -/ I haven’t run across that yet. Thanks!

I used TaskWarrior for a while, but got hung up on syncing across devices, and went down the rabbit hole of recurring tasks and all the bells and whistles.

I wound up going back to plain text to simplify, and make sure I was reviewing* my tasks – in vi at first! Now in NotePlan.

* by which I mean: manually copying and pasting from one day to the next

I have been using IA Writer over the summer. I am liking it. I am impressed with what it will do. It seems like a throwback to the early days of word processing.

Plain with no GUI is any basic text editor with Markdown. One with light touch Markdown colouring is even better. iWriter is nice (with or without Markdown) but then so it BBEdit or Sublime Text (which I use when I don’t have access to BBEdit license - super fast)

Personally I wouldn’t even have thought of Vi in relation to your desire for mental simplicity.

Maybe it’s escapism
