Looking good sir. Looking good.
I do often feel there’s a correlation between simpler tools and more of your work being with other people - whether you’re a senior Ic, or a people leader. I have less very sophisticated notes needs, and more reminders and basic notes for 10-20 conversations in a week.
I got this blog post via e-email from Eduard at NotePlan (the note taking app that I use). It’s a gentler version perhaps of the video linked at the top of this thread.
I have a note about all the tools I use but I don’t always keep a history of why I am using them. thanks for that suggestion. I also review all my stuff quarterly. I’d love to do the quarterly retreat method and go someplace else to do it but that has never worked out so I do my 12WY/Quarterly review/Seasonal Reset at solstices and equinoxes and plan to finish in about a week. I’m trying to do it right now.
A lot of my tool and process or workflow notes are the OSBU for what and how I do stuff in case I am unable to do that thing for any reason. Trying to not only make it easier on my future self but also the folks left to pick up pieces if I am incapacitated or gone.
In OF I use the defer date quite a bit to keep things out of sight until they are really needed to be worked on. @Bmosbacker how do you handle defer dates or did you use them in OF or are you using them in Reminders?
I did use defer dates in OF and like them. Reminders does not have defer dates, so this is a compromise I’m making by staying with Reminders. Every application has its “friction” points. I’ve come to accept that reality and to stop worrying about it. I’ve not found the lack of defer dates a “real-life” problem, just a small inconvenience. My projects are segmented by priority areas in the sidebar, and all associated tasks are sorted by the due date. I review weekly (most weeks) and reorder as needed. It works fine.
