The current MacBook Pros have Thunderbolt 4 ports.
The Apple Studio Display has a Thunderbolt 3 port, and comes with what I then assume (?) is a Thunderbolt 3 cable.
So to take advantage of higher charging and data speeds, is there any reason to upgrade this cable to a Thunderbolt 4 cable, such as…?
Or would doing this be pointless since the Apple Studio Display only has a Thunderbolt 3 port?
I don’t think that there is any difference between 3 and 4 in terms of data or charging speeds for Macs.
Based on the following article, I believe the only difference for Macs is the additional support for hubs but I thought Apple back ported that capability to TB3 machines (could not remember correctly though).
We clear up the confusion around the difference between Thunderbolt 3 vs. Thunderbolt 4, especially regarding the new M1 Macs.
