Tips for switching authenticator apps?

PSA: If you’re considering switching authenticator apps, don’t even consider Microsoft’s Authenticator (unless absolutely necessary, i.e. for M365 accounts).

This is… brilliant:

I wouldn’t on principe because of Microsoft. Sadly been forced to use it for a language course I am taking (via Zoom) and the university has picked Microsoft. (There are not enough emojis to express my distaste of having to use this.)

When I looked at this a few weeks ago, DUO seemed confusing with the individual and corporate accounts. I don’t remember the details. Wirecutter didn’t like 2FAS for reasons noted elsewhere in this thread. I started moving from Authy to Bitdefender stand alone authenticator, but discovered it wouldn’t sync, a deal killer for me. So I decided on Google authenicator. I’m not a Google fan, but they do well with security. You have to be careful to make sure you are getting backups. I use Microsoft authenicator only for Microsoft accounts. Down the road I may switch to Bitdefender.
