I’ve settled on Ghostty, but Wezterm was a close second. Sticking with Bash for
Linux and Zsh on macos for now but Fish does look interesting.
I forgot to mention fzf in my original post but I too use it for finding files, remapped Ctrl-r to fzf history, and also use it to find directories with Zoxide integration…fzf is fantastic.
I have also been spending much more time at the terminal, due in part to Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, Charm Crush, etc. The “it’s just text” approach is a great fit for monkeying around with AI tools. After getting discouraged with Tahoe, I picked up a Framework Desktop and I’ve been running Omarchy on it. It’s really good, and I’m happy to run it alongside my MacBook Pro, but I don’t think I could jump ship to just Linux any time soon.
That said, if you have some compatible hardware (even pretty old stuff) it’s worth giving it a spin.
I have played around with Omarchy on a 2015 MacBook Pro. I like tiling windows more than I thought possible, but not ready to switch to Linux full time.
With Tahoe’s horrible interface, and Microsoft’s missteps lately, Linux is getting a lot of new or second looks.
