Using LLM to prepare a church sermon. lol and lmao.
Non-political? Perhaps it isn’t. Which God? There are many, most don’t necessarily hand out stewardship to humans. Alright, perhaps not get in religious talk either.
So you understand why I respond to this short statement of yours; it is deeply offensive to me and many others. If you want to know why, DM me - this forum is not for politics nor religion.
No offense intended.
I too prefer less religion all round. That said it is very clear that Bob is a leader at a Bible College. I accept he will express himself on those terms
I look past his religion and test the ideas here offers. Can I agree with them. Often yes. When I don’t I still learn.
So I read Bob’s writing because he stimulates my thinking. I let go of our religious differences.
We all have different backgrounds. Mine does not allow me to get past a statement that mentiones god as a matter of fact and one that includings me (as it is worded) - i don’t expect nor need this on a tech forum.
Good for you that you can let it slide, i cannot. I don’t want this to become a rant but did feel it needed to be pointed out to the poster that his reality is not universal and when stated as universal is offensive to others in particular since he stated not wanting to be political (but religeous seemed fine).
I’m my ideal world I would never see other people’s religion. I don’t live that world. Many people I respect are open about their religious values.
I don’t live in that world either.
@Joost, I appreciate your comments and want to assure you that I never intend to offend. I apologize again for any offense given. This will be my final comment on the matter.
I was addressing the implied axiological implications and dilemmas of AI and its environmental impact. Ethical considerations inherently involve metaphysics, which are part of a broader worldview that includes foundational presuppositions. My metaphysical perspective is deeply rooted in the Judeo-Christian worldview and its presuppositions. I believe it is important to acknowledge this when discussing ethical issues related to public policy such as AI and the environment, as doing so provides an honest and transparent foundation for my viewpoint. Simply stating an ethical perspective without acknowledging the underlying presuppositions can lead to misunderstanding and can lack transparency.
My intention was not to promote religion per se but to clarify the basis of my ethical stance, in this particular case, the importance of environmental stewardship and its connection with AI and economic considerations. Addressing AI and energy use is complex, and approaching such matters with integrity should include an acknowledgment of the underlying metaphysical and axiological foundations of the position being shared. Doing so helps ensure that we avoid oversimplification or engage in virtue signaling, striving instead to foster deeper ethical discussions around complex issues such as artificial intelligence and environmental impacts.
I’ll add that I did not initiate an ethical discussion, I was responding to it. I hope this explanation clarifies my intent.
But, we should move on …
I discovered this morning that you can use AI tools like ChatGPT and Claude to generate instructions for printing 3D models, such as boxes. For OpenSCAD, the AI can generate the code directly, while for Fusion 360, it provides step-by-step instructions. How neat!
