Self-wiring a house not allowed in my country (or only: if a certified electrician signs it off). Doesn’t change that fact that a device either gets electricity or not. Not possible to wire a plug in such a way that a device gets hotter. The hazard: bad grounding. Which also wouldn’t lead to devices warming up.

A bit off topic but a common fault with the user wiring a plug was the wires coming loose and touching. Another (less common) one was humans being able to touch bare wires.

I have an Apple TV 4K next to it. And I hope that I switched off all communication between the two. But they still might be communicating somehow
