I just discovered that the voice control feature on the Mac (the one in accessibility that tries to do what dragon dictate did, not Siri) does work if you use a UK language pack, but not an Australian one.
When I chose the Australian one it nearly killed my Mac (m1) but switching it to UK English fixed it.
(I’m from New Zealand so the Aussie voice pack would be better for me, but the uk one does okay. I’m guess US English won’t be buggy too. I don’t know if other language packs work.)
I found the solution on google … so it’s not just me.
