How do you deal with its sync via icloud? This seems to work until all of a sudden it doesn’t. I’ve had this happen a couple of times and for a task application I need it up-to-date and be able to trust it’s up-to-date. Reminders sync doesn’t have my trust (nor does icloud in general).
I moved from Todoist to Reminders but always miss Todoist natural language input.
Given my experience with syncing Notes, I understand the hestitancy. That said, Reminders sync has been instantaneous and rock solid. After it was fixed, Notes sync has also been instantaneous and reliable.
I agree. I’ve just gone back to Omnifocus from Things / Todoist prior.
Omnifocus is a constant battle between being really good at having absolutely everything in there and planning diligently (where it shines), and being able to quickly add to and manage your day (where it falls over without natural language or requiring 7 taps to add one task instead of one).
Struggle continues I guess.
Might give reminders another try. I do like the integration with calendar apps and siri
Yep. I keep looking at Things, but I really want sub-tasks. Do I need them? I think I do, but maybe I could just learn the Things way and not need them. But then there’s Review. I don’t use it every single week like I should, but I use it when I’m overwhelmed to clear the decks and it is invaluable.
I am very aware of this. I would not consider these subtasks. They cannot receive their own start dates, due dates, or descriptions. These are the equivalent of a grocery list for tasks: handy, but not the same.
It also integrates well with Mail.
I am not looking to change away from NotePlan right now, and I’m testing a horrible solution to my calendar time blocking puzzle that would make you all die a bit inside (I haven’t even decided whether to reveal what I’m up to yet), but I really enjoy the drag and drop function of Reminders and Calendar. You can just drag a task and drop it into your calendar. Beautiful.
Out of curiosity, what is the solution you are testing?
The strategy only works for day planning, in my opinion. Once you drop a Reminder to the Calendar, it is now living two separate lives, in your Calendar and in Reminders, and changes are not synced between the two, which I profoundly dislike.
There are apps that display Reminders with your Calendar events, I’m using Busycal, but then these Reminders are not blocking your calendar, which is problematic with my work calendar).
Im at the moment using Trello with different boards according to the context, the cards inside the lists hold important information related to the task, that’s like my big picture tool. For tasks or reminders I need to be constantly annoyed to do or appointments I don’t have to forget I use due, not a lot of tasks make it there, just very important things that due to ADHD might be missed.
Lastly, for my day go day planning I use my Supernote (e-ink) to do bullet journaling. I add things here from my trello boards, calendar and due. Inside it I have templates for Eisenhower Matrix and other cool ones (time blocking) I made with Affinity Publisher (I share them for free in the supernote Reddit).
I’ve come to a simple conclusion that I am using all of them!
Hey @Jvet, keen to check out your templates. Who are you over in Reddit?
EDIT: Found you! These are great!
I love this because it’s unique and well considered. It’s not for me (I don’t like Trello), but I love the ingenuity. Thanks for sharing!
Find me as pathocyte. I’ll update the Eisenhower Matrix template (v2), I already have finished the template, now I just need to add the German and English Translations. I hope to do it tonight.
Nice template! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks! It has involved a lot of trying and failing, until I started to get treatment for my ADHD and started reading some books about strategies to deal with it. Now I just take what I like from books and try to use it mainly with Trello and my supernote.
What I love about this last gadget is that it gives me the flexibility of using a dotted template or something I designed for my use case, and just add it as a page wherever I want. Also no distractions, no LED, and good organization.
I should also say I use the default calendar, not a lot of apps “understand” Spanish but this one does and I can add appointments as fast as they come to me. I also share a board with my girlfriend on Trello where we have our “to do” and “done” plans, it can sync to apple calendar and we get the benefit of adding a background of a cool photo where we are together and with our pets
When was Notes sync fixed? In Ventura? It still doesn’t work for me in Monterey. I have to relaunch Notes on Mac and iOS device for it to sync. It does sync on its own occasionally. Occasionally.
