Why is RSS so underrated?

This is a huge barrier for non-technical folks. I love RSS, and have used it since… 2009 or so with Feed Demon (Windows app) and then Google Reader with a gReader front end (Android). Now, the sites I visit have really interesting designs that I’d like to see when I read an article. Those feeds get added to Devonthink and any other feeds I need to quickly scan I send to Inoreader and use Reeder as a front end.

I can train my feeds; I’m nerdy enough to find that enjoyable. My younger cousin who is an older millennial that doesn’t understand how to use Gmail? Not so much. It’s tricky.
