It looks like we finally have an explanation for why Microsoft has been quiet about officially supporting Windows on Apple Silicon.

The important paragraph is this one:

One thing I wasn’t able to learn is when the deal will expire, only that it’s the thing holding back other chip vendors from competing in the space. … This is also presumably why Apple Silicon Macs aren’t officially supported for running Windows 11, so hopefully that will change as well.

Hopefully this means we’ll soon have Windows on M1. I was initially a bit worried Microsoft was just going to drop Windows on Mac entirely.
