Will a European Alexa respond to English?

Amazon Echo Spot, Dot, and some other incarnations, are finally becoming available in Catalonia (where I live) at the end of the month.

I’m not clear whether you can use English-language commands/UK services instead of the advertised Spanish ones and get back the corresponding British English responses/results.

If the “lady in the can” bought via Amazon.es is geo-restricted and only capable of providing Spanish content, then I’ll give her an extremely wide berth. (Yes, I’m perfectly fluent in Spanish, but I’d feel stupid talking to my devices in a foreign language, and, no, I’m not anti-Spanish - I simply have no interest in/use for any of the Spanish services proposed on the product page).

Can anyone shed any light?

In my experience you can set the language and region when setting up.
