Will getting rid of my external display speed up performance of my 2015 MacBook Air?

I use a 2015 MacBook Air connected with a 27" Cinema Display most of the time. Sometimes the MBA is a bit slow. Would the MBA run faster if I disconnected the external display and just run the internal display?

I figure painting all those pixels has got to be using up CPU. Or is the display controlled by separate hardware?

Just an idle thought here. I’m not even sure I want to disconnect the external display, even if it is slowing down my Mac.

The short and simple answer is: no, it won’t make any difference, The “painting” of your screen is done by a separate part of the processor (the GPU).

That’s what I figured. Oh, well.
