Still only has access to App Store Apps in the US.
Local audio capture on iPad! Canāt wait for MPU to try it out.
Itās a huge upgrade to iPadOS, finally making use of the hardware. The limitation of the App Store (outside the EU) is the biggest differentiator with the Mac.
Edit: as @MurphysLaw said!
Maybe it is just my mood, but I thought it was all mehā¦
until iPadā¦.that is what I was hoping for!!! Makes this a great year for me!
iPad is the big winner this year, IMHO.
I think that with Liquid Glass theyāve managed to do what is essentially a complex change to the UI across all of the platforms, without doing an IOS 7 and making everything unfamiliar.
I also like that fact that they applied Apple Intelligence all over the place without rubbing it in anyoneās faces too much.
I tuned out somewhere in the middle. I normally skip the whole thing then fast forward through the replay to the parts that interest me.
I wonder what the behind-the-scenes story is with chatGPT? It seems to be the strategy that it is the fall-back and in some cases the primary model across all the platforms, rather than a mechanism for allowing use of a model of your choice. That might make delivery quicker, but what does that mean for the future?
This is the first year for many years that I watched it all the way through, though I nearly bailed a couple of times on the way.
Itās probably not the place for them to talk about it, but the pervasive love-bombing of developers (and that change of attitude is long overdue) will have to be followed up very quickly with some more concrete changes. Opening up more APIs and models to developers is a good thing, bringing better tools (e.g. to Vision Pro development) is too, but developers have to feel less exploited or they wonāt develop.
I heard the iPad journal throwaway announcement, but the Macos version is in that Bento Box. Iām not sure Iāll make the switch (from Diarly) but it will at least be worth looking at if itās across the ecosystem.
I want a Marine Drill Sargent in my head, frankly. Ideally filled with explictives
Freeform seems to be forgotten altogether
A solid update for iPadOS mostly, spotlight seems cool but I doubt it can replace Alfred for me.
This will be the first time in a long time that I wonāt/canāt upgrade. It looks like my watch and iPad will, but absent a phone that canāt Iām not seeing much use. Sigh.
Iām hoping the translucency and animation remains customisable just as it is today.
What looks new in Craigās hand in Apple Park isnāt viable for actual use.
And donāt get me started on Alan Dyeās obsession with rounded corners or even circles - I hope the circular photo preview in camera app is dropped before release.
+1
I never cared for Aero Glass when MS tried this back in the Vista/Windows 7 days. Hopefully I can dial it down in the Accessibility section or somewhere.
Iāll probably never use more than 3 windows on my 11 in iPad, but it does look interesting.
Something small that made me happy and was reminder that for all Appleās imperfections why I choose the platform. They are adding a running list of visited places in maps which you can turn on. Google has had this forever, but is a security nightmare. So when apple showed this, them also saying any data syncing is end to end encrypted is so important. Obviously your physical device will have, but not having the government (or others) being able to subpoena or steal that kind of data means you can use a feature and feel better about it.
I already use Apple Maps for 99% so was also right in my wheelhouse.
As long as Apple keeps Yelp integration, Iām out
I really like what Iām seeing for the window management. Every other attempt felt like shoe horning something in as a āsolutionā. I used them but never liked it.
I use the 13 inch iPads though. The extra real estate probably makes it more viable.
Whatās the issue with the Yelp integration? Or is that a personal preference you have?
I missed Phone app for the Mac and iPad
Which brings me tantalizingly close to a Mac/Watch setup.
