2024 Retreat in mountains with nice dog

Got a call from my brother today asking me if I can go to his nice house in the nice mountains for 2 nights to babysit his nice doggo. I was trying to figure out if I could swing doing my first retreat and voila! Problem solved!

Boning up on Macsparky’s retreat pdf and video in preparation. Can’t wait. Is anyone else planning a retreat this Summer?

Fortuitous!

After the fact, give us feedback on what worked well and what didn’t.

Sounds amazing. Definitely interested in how it goes. I need to schedule one myself!

Hope you enjoy your retreat! When you tell us how it worked for you, please include dog pics. I have been baited by the title .

Well, things went pretty smoothly. I didn’t get as much done as I had hoped, but it was my first retreat, so I will do things a little differently next time.

I kept getting distracted by being a maker rather than a manager. I am a teacher so feel that any changes to my workflows need to be made now because it is hard to do during the school year. Every time I came up with an idea, I felt the need to act on it rather than continue managing, but I did overcome that for the most part and get on with things.

Doggie was actually a big help, because she forced me to take breaks and chase balls and whatnot. This was very good because I have a real tendency to get in my head and stay there. I reworked much of my roles/arete and finally managed to internalize that the world will not end if I can’t return to work in September (I took sick leave in June because of abdominal issues and am awaiting a probable surgery). It is really hard for me to leave work at work (which probably helped contribute to my issues) but now I get that I need to be making a plan b and a plan c, depending on what happens in the next while.

Next time, I will bring more food with me because I had to go out for dinner one night and it derailed my momentum for that day. Oh, well! I really enjoyed the experience and will most definitely be doing this again over christmas, as my brother and his family like to travel.

Thanks for your interest, everyone! Please enjoy Satsuki, puppy extraordinaire!

Muddy, wet dogs are the best.
