My interest is primarily in building server side software. For that, I’d need to be able to run compilers/interpreters and access a terminal. The iPadOS baseline of the device really makes that impossible.
This is where I sit too as a primarily backend software engineer. It’s a shame Apple continues to cripple their products like this. Until I can open up a terminal and drop into bash, it’s nothing more than a toy for the type of work I do…not a general purpose computing device for serious computing.
