In this episode, @MacSparky says he types Shift-E
to edit the defer date in the OmniFocus outline. This doesn’t work for me. All it does is take me to editing the title of the task. Has he sprinkled some Keyboard Maestro fairy dust or something?
He said shift+D. I think defer needs to be shown in the outline for it to work, too.
Haha, well there you go. The American accent must have fooled me.
What accent?

Interesting to hear that David has exchanged the 13" iPad Pro for the 11" model partly because of the 13" Magic Keyboard wobbliness and inherent instability (which we discussed briefly here). I’m still surprised this didn’t get more traction in the media.
I can’t speak for @MacSparky, but I’ve used a 13” M4 iPad Pro exclusively since May 23. I have not encountered any issues with the wobbliness of the new MK.
It really wasnt’ the wobbliness so much as for a big screen device, I think I prefer a Mac.
I understand completely. I’m on day 20 of my 30-day “iPad only” experiment. I’m documenting my experience. Thus far, it is going well, but I’m not recording videos and producing field guides.
I expect I’ll still need and want a Mac. I am mainly trying to determine if I can flip the equation from the Mac as the primary device, with the iPad serving a complementary role, to the iPad serving as the primary device and the Mac serving as a complementary device. This may be more feasible for me than most people because 90% of my work is text-based.
Speaking of field guides, like all of your field guides, the OF 4 field guide is outstanding. I highly recommend it to anyone who is using or considering using OF.
Thanks for your outstanding contributions to our computing lives!
If you hit that tipping point, a large screen with a Mac mini as a “home base” becomes a great option, and you can also connect the iPad to said screen. I do that now, which means the mini does handle backing up photos from the cloud and a few background things like that.
That is an option I’m considering, or I could use a MB connected to a large monitor as a “home base” and use the iPad as my daily driver. That way, if I needed to use “home base” otherwise, e.g., if my iPad is damaged and in need of repairs and I have an upcoming trip, I could grab “home base” and go.
That’s been my solution. I’ve tried several methods to back up my iPad Pro without a traditional computer. Dragging, or using CCC mobile backup, to backup files to an external drive works. But having to download files from iCloud/Google Drive, etc. and then back them up manually is a show stopper.
I use my MBA as a backup server. I prefer it to a Mac mini, etc. because it doesn’t require a monitor, keyboard, and UPS.
And I can leave it with my brother, connected to his WiFi, when I’m on an extended trip.
