This was another good one (well, aren’t they all?).

The Hazel new version discussion was really good. I picked-up the updated version, but I really don’t know what is fully in it and has been added or changed. I also haven’t seen a good review / overview of this around as of yet, at least from somebody with a Mac Power User perspective.

I really like the new Reeder. I only have a couple of issues to make it my catch-all for the internet. One of which is out of their control (I would kill for federated Instagram).

Hi @ismh86 just wondering if could share the items you purchased from ubiquiti, particular the cloud gateway. Was it the Cloud Gateway Ultra? I am in the process of buying their products as well. Thanks

Of course!

That is awesome thank you

Dang it @ismh86, you inspired a holiday project. Hadn’t heard about Ubiquiti.

Good news is that I expect it to be easier than putting on Christmas lights.

Sad to hear about the Tidbyt being acquired. I’ve been curious about a device like that. The goog’ first showed me this, curious if anyone has one or any experience / review. I’m a sucker for e-ink.

Regarding reading newsletters in Feedbin or another RSS reader: Instead of subscribing using the email that Feedbin (or the other reader) gives you, subscribe using your regular email and then set up a rule to forward the email to your RSS reader’s email. This avoids the awkwardness of billing messages going in to the RSS reader when you want them in your email. It also lets you more freely try out different reader apps.

Also, for RSS readers that don’t offer a newsletter option, you can subscribe to a newsletter using the free https://kill-the-newsletter.com service. As far as I know, that service is ad and tracking free. It’s just something that somebody hosts for the benefit of the internet community.

I am the anonymous contributor who upgraded from the 27" Apple Cinema Display to a 34" Dell Ultrawide and was having difficulty with window management on the additional real estate. I don’t know why I submitted the question anonymously.

As I said in my earlier message: On the 27" display, I kept all my windows maximized (but not fullscreen) most of the time, though frequently I had two windows side-by-side, like when I’m reading something on the web and taking notes in another window. The 34" display is too wide for me to comfortably have a single window maximized.

Since I submitted my question, I’ve settled on a workflow using Stage Manager. I don’t care much about the way Stage Manager groups windows together in “stages,” but I do like that the default for SM is one window per stage. So I use Raycast to set a window to 3/4 wide on the display and work like that most of the time. And when I want two windows side-by-side — which is why I bought the ultrawide display —I can easily do that.

Displays are so reasonably priced nowadays that sometimes I think that 34" is not wide enough. But then I get over it. 34" is fine.

Im a fan of new Reeder. If Instagram could join the fray then Id be golden. The Youtube tab needs some start where you left off playback as well.

I really like the new Reeder.

Tutuapp

Also, most newsletter providers offer RSS feeds. This is true for MailChimp, Substack and Beehiiv, and probably others too. Although Substack’s RSS feeds are reportedly rubbish.
