Just let me give my wallet to my wife before I listen to this!

I think this year I might not buy anything off the list! Granted, I already have a good number of them, and have a Prusa CoreOne L on order to be delivered in a few weeks, so even the 3d printing talk didn’t get to me!

I think Setapp might be the only interesting item on the list for me.

I might give it another try around the Christmas holidays (or earlier if I can get a free trial month).

Any good (generic) promo codes for that?

Good show. I like the breadth of items covered

I was more intrigued by the life philosophy comment in the description. But also curious to hear what the guys have to say about gifts.

I’d love to hear from others if they have used the Hollyland Lark M2S Wireless Microphone that David mentioned. He focused on dictation, but if someone has used it for dictation, or otherwise, I’d love to hear about it. Seems intriguing.

I’ve been using it for a few months. I find it very accurate for dictation (I bounce between Superwhisper and Spokenly). I should note that I have tested it by listening to the output in Voice Memos, and it won’t magically transform your recorded audio into something its not. I typically have the mic clipped on my shirt collar, and it isn’t as clear as when I hold it up to my mouth. But that doesn’t seem to affect the accuracy of dictation, as best I can tell. Like David, I like to walk around when I speak, and it is good for that. If it weren’t for my walking, the microphones on the Studio Display seem to produce similar quality, compared to the Lark worn on my collar, at least to my naked ear.

Oh, and they are resilient. I’ve sent them through the wash a couple of times, and they still work. I often forget I’m wearing it, so one often accompanies me when I go out to lunch.

Re: Smart Home. In this episode Stephen talked about Aqara Smart Home and he mentioned a limitation if placing the sensors too far from the hub. I use sensors from Yolink with multiple devices, leak sensors, temperature sensors, and smart switches. The advantage I see with Yolink is they advertise 1/4 mile range. I live on acreage and I have various sensors located hundreds of feet from the hub in out buldings and I’ve never had a problem with a disconnection. If people need to cover long distances I recommend looking at Yolink.

Not a promo code, but if you know someone who already has it they can give you a code so you get a free month and they get a free month. (I have it, but work pays for it, so makes sense for someone else to get the free month). I strongly endorse setapp.

I’ve been tempted by the Battery Daddy, but the handle puts me off. The battery drawer is a destination! I should just buy it and remove the handle.

That seems like a nice stocking stuffer. :slightly_smiling_face:

Better than a handkerchief: shop towels.
Sturdy enough for multiple uses, can even go through the washing machine. Cheap enough for use on anything.

You’ll have to have a big stocking to get that in. All kidding aside, I have one of these and it is a good way to keep all your batteries organized.

I figure if I put up a really big stocking I’ll get bigger gifts!

Thanks so much for your reply. I was wondering if the Hollyland was so much better than the mic in my MacBook Air for dictation. In my head I was thinking of sitting down near my computer. But, alas, I also prefer to walk around or at least not be tied down near my computer. This is all great to know and might fit into my future work rhythm quite nicely!

There was a reference to LED lights for basements, strip ones I think? I couldn’t find a specific make or model though. Does anyone have an idea of what that might be?
