Thank you! Pleasure to be here
Have you ever tried the blinking or mouth movements to turn pages? Requires iPad Pro but itâs pretty fun!
forScore is amazing!
really enjoyed the first episode. Definitely looks like Stephen is gonna be a great co-host! Please make a hosting your own LLM episode! Would love to see if we can make a mac version of openclaw that would be safe.
Great suggestion. We did try it but it proved hit and miss for them and caused great anxiety during a hymn as they couldnât guarantee the page turn.
Welcome Stephen R, have really enjoyed your YouTube videos! Farewell-sort of Stephen H, all the best with Relay and hope youâll return as a guest from time to time. Thanks for your great show with David,
Stephen R, An episode with David on ebooks would be great. Have bought several ebooksbut rarely used. Too clunky or screen too small or too big. But the Ipadmini whilst a good reading device is more screen time (so is eink but less eye strain and spouse complaints at night) and more distractions (and i have tried locking the reading view and black and white screens approach,
A slightly larger e-ink device 8â which is responsive and which doesnt lock me into Amazon, Kobo etc and is not run on Android would potentially be great.
Same here. I fail miserably when trying to switch pages using a wink or mouth gestures.
I donât care that I look like a dork when doing so, but I am not able to do it reliably. Anna Lapwood, a very good organist from the UK that is constantly proving how modern an organ can be, is able to use winks with ForScore. She does all her concerts using an iPad with ForScore, apparently. There is a fun video she published when she started âtrainingâ the gestures (it takes some effort
): TikTok - Make Your Day. When I am at the organ, I am still using paper because I have not digitized those music sheets. Very impressive is this DIY stuff: One Organist's DIY Page Turning Solution - Gavin Bateman - Cambron Software Blog (scroll down, especially for the Mark III version). Perfect solution, but unfortunately too much for my DIY ambitions. Be it as it may, I am planning to digitize all my organ music sheets eventually so that I am all digital when playing music. I am already using ForScore for conducting a Brass Band basically since ForScore was first published for iPads (page turn: I just swipe using my hands) and playing the bass guitar (page turn: cheap Bluetooth pedal).
Welcome, Stephen! Excited for you and David in this new MPU chapter.
One random side quest from the episode: I agree with Davidâs preference for the larger home screen icons, but also agree with Stephen that the spacing at the bottom is (super) awkward. I decided to embrace it and leave some open space beneath my top widgets. IMO the result felt pretty balanced and purposeful (especially with the subtle lines in the wallpaper)! One bonus benefit is that limiting apps to the lower portion of the screen also helps a ton with one-hand reachability. ![]()
Thanks for that link. Very interesting. I follow Anna Lapwood closely as she promotes the organ so well and used to be a professor in my old hometown of Cambridge. I was never smart enough to attend one of the Cambridge colleges, but I can say I went to technical college in Cambridge. My old CCAT (Cambridge College of Arts and Technology) is now part of Anglia Ruskin uni.
Welcome Stephen Robles. I admit I had not found your Youtube channel before the announcement. I have enjoyed a few videos now and thought you worked well with Sparky on the first episode as co host. Hereâs to a long run on MPU!
Long time listener here. I think these two will really mesh well together. You can just tell Stephen is a good guy, just like David. (Not that old Stephen wasnât a good guy).
Thank you! Excited for all the future episodes!
Ah yeah not worth it then
Thank you, Brian! And that does look nicely symmetricalâŠ
David and I will be discussed Home Screens in-depth pretty soon, stay tuned!
Thanks so much, itâs an honor to be here!
Appreciate that
excited for the future!
Yes - it was excellent
Welcome @beardfm to MPU! Iâve followed you on Youtube so Iâm looking forward to your presence on MPU.
You mentioned using â+â§+] to cycle through tabs in Safari. I have found that using â„+â+â not only allows you to cycle through tabs, but â„+â+â allows you to cycle through tab groups. This is convenient as the left hand can hold down the same keys while the right hand can easily manipulate the arrow keys. Maybe you knew this, but thought Iâd share.
