David is right. You are indeed a good communicator. Welcome aboard! Looking forward to the next episodes.

Welcome Stephen, I think it’s so cool you and your wife play in the Lakeland Symphony Orchestra. I look forward to hearing more about how you use tech in your musical interests.

I enjoyed the episode!

However, it seems there’s some “quirk” in the recording. It seems to me that David especially has his volume decreased at times (probably like 2 dB). At any rate it was noticeable enough that it made listening more difficult. I haven’t experienced this before with MPU listening under the same conditions. I’m guessing something changed in how the recording is done … but that’s just a guess on my part. The dip in sound wasn’t terrible, but noticeable to me wearing my AirPod 3s.

haha thank you, glad to be here!

Thank you! Excited for what’s to come

Thank you! My wife actually uses the forScore app on iPad for all her rehearsals and some concerts. Even added a bluetooth foot pedal. May have to discuss!

Hey Mathew, a little BTS, David recently switched his audio interface to a Rodecaster Duo and we’re working to dial that in. We’ll get it nailed down!

Does not compute! Does not compute!

… maybe he changed his interface, but he’s still using his beloved Neumann KMS 105 mic isn’t he? I wouldn’t trade that mic for anything. I believe he had a USB-Pre2 at one point … still solid as can be for me. Perhaps he’s just getting itchy feet to try something new?

I’d love to hear the reasons why the switch. If it works great, why change? Or perhaps it didn’t? On a serious note, discussing audio recording setups might be a worthwhile topice at some point in the future. It’s not as simple as it might seem to many folks.

I’ve noticed this in the past. Have had to increase the volume when David speaks, the decrease when old Stephen speaks.

Sometimes David’s volume is fine then trails off.

Oooh yes please. I’ve built a wired footpedal (Arduino based) as our church can cause interesting bluetooth problems and we’re busy changing the organists (our grown children) over to forScore. Quite a challenge for an organist to use a footpedal to change the music.

Mic didn’t change, but the Duo is aggressive at processing signal and there’s a lot of toggles to turn off and tweak. Will get it! I’ll let David explain the reasoning but I think it’s on the topic list!
