I really like these episodes with in-depth analysis of the choices we make with simples things as out phones homescreens and setups.
As someone who always sticks to stock apps, I get the itch to “complicate” my workflow just to check out the mentioned apps…
In this past week’s MPU David mentioned a workflow of: Whisper… → Drafts → Claude → … . I don’t see any details on this in the show notes. I was also curious if David has shared his action button shortcut. … Or hints as to what goes in the other shortcuts at the bottom of his home screen.
He shared his capture shortcut for his MacSparky subscribers. If you are included there.
But I am also curious about why he uses Whisper Memos for Drafts. Is it much better than the included dictation in Drafts?
In Drafts, especially on Apple Watch, it’s multiple buttons to get dictation started and ended.
With WhisperMemos, on Apple Watch, I click the complication and I’m recording instantly. Then one button to stop recording and the text shows up in Drafts almost instantly.
Right, totally makes sense.
But do you know what powers the built in dictation in Drafts, is it Apples built in or something more powerful?
I use a different app today, Spokenly, which is free. But I am missing Apple Watch and their shortcut integration is slightly limited
Thanks, I’m a Sparky Subscriber. I have seen that video, however it’s just the starting point. There is more going on here.
FWIW I asked here and in the MacSparky discord (very quiet). This place sometimes provides additional ideas that I might otherwise see.
This is definitely a nice feature, but you can trigger a voice recording + transcription with Shortcuts too!
Hi @beardfm
With the rise of AI and popularity of using notes as context. Have you dabbled with replacing Bear with more “open” apps such as Obsidian or similar?
