David, Regarding a hot key to use MOOM to move a window. I wrote Rob and here is his answer: I believe what he’s asking for is the ability to move a window to a specific location on another display, right? Assuming that’s right, here’s a reply you can copy and paste over to the forums :).
The easiest way to do this is to use a saved window layout, with just one window in it. Use Hide Others to hide everything except one app. Now use Moom, the mouse, whatever, to size and position that window exactly as you want it on the second display. Once that’s done, save the layout.
That’s it, you now have an action that moves TextEdit (or whatever) to that spot on the second display.
But what if you want any window, i.e. the frontmost one, to go there? Simple, in Moom’s Settings, for that saved layout, just change the “Apply to” pop-up to match the active window, not the specified app’s window:
This is, by far, the easiest and quickest way to move any window in any app to a defined location on another display. You can then assign it a keyboard shortcut, or add it to the green button palette, etc.
However, because this is Moom :), there are at least two more ways to do this, using Chains:
https://manytricks.com/moom/help/customactions.html#_chain
Chains let you string Moom commands together, and they can either be run in sequence (useful for stepping a window through a number of locations) or all at once (useful for creating one new action from many). In this case, he’d want the second option, run all. He could then build a chain to a specific position without resizing, or one to move to a position and size defined by a Moom resize action.
Great discussion, @MacSparky and @beardfm. I’m a longtime listener and really appreciate the Q&A episodes.
Moom, one of my favorite macOS utilities, was mentioned, so I thought I’d chime in.
When I purchased Moom, the Chain custom action really piqued my interest. But after trying it, I found that I wanted more control—specifically, a way to force the steps to begin at the first Layout.
With the current version of Moom (v4.4.2), if a Chain includes four sequential Layouts and its use has advanced to Layout 2, there is no built-in feature to reset and resume at Layout 1—that is, to effectively skip Layout 3 and Layout 4 and start over.
To address my requirement, I developed a Keyboard Maestro macro. I use this macro many times per day. If you have both Moom and Keyboard Maestro and want a powerful, flexible way to rearrange your windows quickly (without moving your fingers off the keyboard!), you might want to give it a try:

Hey David & Stephen,
Nice episode thanks. Just a note on Cloudmounter - it’s also available on Setapp at no additional cost.
Also, I was interested in the Transloader setup that Stephen mentioned but can’t seem to get the Mac side to auto download the url? Also not sure what role Downie would play since it seems that Transloader is supposed to download the files from urls automatically? Anyway I’d appreciate if you could describe your setup in more detail pls if possible?
PS after purchasing Transloader and installing it, Setapp notified me that it’s also available in it’s catalogue ![]()
Alright I gotta finally sign up for Setapp ![]()
