I’ve had a smart scale from Greater Goods for years. I actually had to look it up in my Amazon order history because it has practically no branding on it and I’ve never had a reason to look up the brand since I bought it. Turns out I bought it in 2019 and it’s still going strong. The current version is also stupidly cheap at $35.
Also wanted to plug Happy Scale which is a great app for weight trends that isn’t discouraging if you’re someone who does hop on the scale daily.
Great episode as always. One thing you didn’t mention about the DEVONthink update, is that you can now use the Apple Intelligence foundation model for simple AI tasks. I haven’t played with it much yet, but saw it was there. It’s not going to compete with your robot assistant, but for those who can’t give Claude access for legal/privacy reasons and don’t want to fiddle with installing a local model, access to the Apple foundation model will be a welcome intermediate step. Presumably it’s also a step towards incorporating whatever gets announced next week at WWDC.
whatever is key. I’d like to say “It couldn’t be worse.” but I’ve been wrong before.
However, we are guardedly hopeful for more than just Apple Intelligence on the table. ![]()
I have a Eufy Bluetooth Scale which works great, the batteries last forever! eufy Smart Scale with Bluetooth, Body Fat Scale, Wireless Digital Bathroom Scale, 12 Measurements, Weight/Body Fat/BMI, Fitness Body Composition Analysis, Black/White, lbs/kg/st : Amazon.co.uk: Health & Personal Care
I think that the Forum needs updating:
I have a 20+ year old dumb (mechanical) scale. It has multiple adjustable markers around the dial, one of which is set at my all time heaviest weight. That is a constant reminder to exercise . . . by pushing back from the table when I am tempted to overeat.
I verify its accuracy by stepping on the scale just before I leave to visit my doctor, and comparing that number to what the nurse records in my file. ![]()
