How does the Kan Do app compare to Omnifocus 4? Thank you
And we’ve only been asking for it for like a decade now 
I sent this via the submit feedback option on the show notes, but will also include here. I’m a member of the Robot Builders Field Club and have built an app as well. Right now, the app is stored on GitHub and Railway, and I’m not 100% sure what they do or why.
I also have a personal website with Ionis, and I have an SQL database there. I’m not sure what the best use process is for building an app, loading it, and then distributing it, etc. I would love more explanation or insights into this. Could I have stored my app on my personal website and used the database there? These are all things that I don’t know. I’d love to learn more about it, so any help would be great.
I didn’t know any of these things either. My advice: ask your model! Claude has been a very patient guide through what for me is a wilderness of shorthand terms and acronyms. Now I always ask why things are being structured they way they are and what the alternatives might be.
Omnifocus will have more granular control over tasks, more robust Shortcuts and programming customizations, and is likely rock solid due to the team making it for such a long time! But it doesn’t do Kanban style management, which was my starting point.
My concern about this new phenomena of flooding the App Store with vibe coded apps is that not all ‘ developers’ understand that they’re not developers and most consumers won’t understand that they’re not buying from a developer. Going to Make for some unhappy users. I imagine that at one point, Apple will add a vibe-code stamp on this stuff. But, buyer beware I suppose.
Great episode. I’m especially interested in the smart water leak protection mentioned, so I will check out the ones you mentioned. I am still old school, and I turn off my main water valve whenever we go on vacation. It does the trick and gives me peace of mind while I’m gone, but of course it’s not a very elegant solution.
I love your new app, however, when I installed the Mac version after the iPhone version, it duplicated all of the items and tags on both versions. 17 Pro 26.6; MacBook Pro 26.6.1.
Just starting the episode. A flooding comment for David. Please take a look at Moen Flo. Smart device you can shut down your water remotely. But it also will shutoff your water if it detects abnormal activity. No monthly fee and if you don’t look at alert on your phone when unusual activity it will also call you on the phone. It also does daily micro leak tests for the house. And all the fun stuff of how much water you use, etc. This is coming from someone with old copper pinhole pipes that have all since been replaced 
@beardfm Thanks so much for this episode. I was listening as I took a long morning walk. In truth I did not think a kanban would be useful for me … mainly based on the examples I’ve seen before. But what really encouraged me to explore kanbans was your great description of when and how it might be useful to you. That was fantastic!
I realized I had a couple of project areas that were very similar to your situation. I immediately bought Kan Do. Unfortunately at first there were way too many crashes and oddities. I meant to write to your earlier but in the meantime you’ve made several updates and enhancements to the app. At this point it’s working very smoothly for me. I’m sure I’ll run into issues at some point and will gladly report. Yet today I now have a workable version of Kan Do. It’s going to help me tremendously so … thank you, thank you, thank you!
My only suggestion would be after about a year (and after you’ve earned your first million): get a professional icon designer to design the icon. Not important at all right now, but it will make a difference at some point. The icon designers still are way way ahead of AI.
This was the best episode of MPU that I’ve heard in awhile and it happened because the two of you were able to describe a real problem, what your idea was, and how you went about creating a solution. All the steps were helpful to hear.
