Does anyone know if it’s possible to accept or decline invitations from people using Outlook email accounts using Apple Mail/Calendar (or any MacOS email and/or calendar client) using an iCloud email account. I want to use iCloud but whenever I get an invite from an Outlook account, all I can do is add the meeting to my calendar. I can’t accept or decline it so the sender never knows if I can attend or not. I’ve tried Apple support but they were stumped. It doesn’t seem to be an issue if I get an invite from a Gmail account but with emailed invites from a Gmail account there is an .ics file I can click not so with Outlook.
Any suggestions?
We use Office 365 at work and we use invitations for some of our meetings so we know who will be able to attend.
To the best of my knowledge you need to be signed into some sort of Microsoft account (e.g. Exchange, Office 365, etc.) for the sender to see your status. All of that is handled at the sever level from I what I can see as a user. When someone accepts/declines an invitation I’ve sent the server then sends me a message to let me know. If someone sends me an invite then it shows as a tentative event on my calendar (slightly faded out) and then if I accept it shows in my calendar as a solid colour.
As I said earlier I am only a user of this system but from what I have seen it looks like the server manages a lot of this in the background. That is certainly the way it seems to work in our Office 365 system.
