Accessories for new MacBook Pro laptop?

Just as the title states upgraded my computer. Holy crap this is fantastic! Loving it so far. I will say I keep using the function key by mistake instead of the control key. Might remap stuff around, not sure yet. Any suggestions of stuff I should ensure to do on my new computer? All of my prior issues with software and stuff going on with my former computer doesn’t seem to be an issue with my new one. I will completely wipe my old computer and reinstall as a refresh. My mom will be using it for the time being. Thanks so much for @bowline also to assure me I wouldn’t goof stuff up. His suggestion of transferring from an external HD was easy. Shorter than I thought it would take, just over an hour for 400 or so GB.

Yeah I would say that is a huge improvement in performance :checkered_flag:

I had a similar experience last year. The difference is amazing! Enjoy your new laptop!

I upgraded to a 2019 15-inch Macbook Pro from a 2012 15-inch, non-retina Macbook Pro last month. Every time I use it new machine I think it’s awesome. One accessory I bought was a CalDigit TS3 Plus Dock. I’m diggin’ it.

I also got the OWC Thunderbolt 3 dock (expensive) for my office, so there is just one cable to pluck into the laptop and monitor printers etc. all are connected.

You should check on the Wirecutter though as more have come out since I bought this one.

Should have also mentioned this one:

and this one

Thanks @Wrothnie for the time being I’m not wanting to spend a ton of money on a hub but will keep it in mind.

I’m worries about my computer being scratched etc, any good hard shell or whatnot protection for my 2019 laptop? Also what are people using for cables when traveling or heading to work?

Be careful with hard shell cases. I used one from Amazon, I cannot remember the brand but it cost round €20, and it scratched my MacBook Pro along the edge. I now use the leather case from Apple for protection when I’m not using it, which is nice but does not offer protection while using it.

Yeah I just put it in the sleeve when not using it and often rest it on top of the sleeve when it’s on my lap. I’ll just wipe the outside of it and such to clean it every once in a while.
