Advice on Migrating Files Without iCloud and Avoiding Setup Assistant Bloat

our 2018 Mac mini with a 2024 model and want to ensure that our photos, music, and other files are easily accessible on the new machine. While iCloud is one option for syncing these files, we’re interested in exploring other methods that don’t involve iCloud.

Additionally, we’ve heard that using the Setup Assistant for migration can transfer everything automatically, which might result in unnecessary bloat and clutter on the new computer. We’d like to learn about alternative ways to implement an efficient migration without inheriting unwanted files or settings.

We look forward to your recommendations on this.
