I’m looking to buy a 2 TB SSD drive to connect to a MacBook Pro M3.
Amazon has the Crucial X10 Pro for €182 and the Samsung T7 Shield for €159. What do you think?
I just bought the red T7 for $189 CAD. Hoping to hear good things as it arrives tomorrow LOL. Mac mini (M1).
Check the pricing of the Crucial X9 Pro, which is usually half the price of the X10.
X10 Pro is not worth it, except if priced very competitively, as no Apple devices support or will ever support USB 3.2 Gen 2x2, and that is the only hardware difference between X9 and X10. Support for USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 is still not great on the PC side, either.
Thank you, that is something I had not considered
The Crucial X9 Pro SSD 2TB is sold at €191 and the Crucial X9 SSD 2TB at €160.
I’m using several Crucial SSD’s 2TB and 4TB. All X10 but my wallet says should probably have bought X9.
Samsung is my second choice, but I’ve had mixed success with other Samsung storage products so with other choices haven’t been interested in trying them in a while.
Stay away from Sandisk SSDs. I used to use a bunch of them, but when WD bought them they are a disaster and customer service from WD is horrible.
Currently, several class action lawsuits against Sandisk/WD for catastrophic data loss on SSD’s and they were selling additional defective units for big discounts instead of pulling them off the market.
(You can Google it, factual, not anecdotal)
The Crucial X10 is currently on promotion, so it’s cheaper than the X9 version. However, I think I’ll go for the Samsung T7 Shield. I’ve noticed that prices here in Europe are much higher than in the US.
Yeah, European prices tend to be crazy sometimes. Last year, I managed to grab the X9 Pro 2 TB on Amazon during Black Friday for about €100. It was quickly back to €170 or so. I regret not buying a couple.
