I am in the market to purchase some additional AirTags. I have been using four 1st generation AirTags for a couple of years and have been generally pleased with them. However, I am considering purchasing Ugreen trackers instead as they are substantially less expensive than AirTags. Any opinions on which you think I should purchase? I might need more than 4 so I am thinking about hedging my bets and getting both. Also, for those of you who are using 2nd generation AirTags, what is your opinion on them? Please share your thoughts. 
I’d only use a tracker with ultra wide band in it (what lets an Airtag arrow point within sub-inch precision in real time as you move.) I don’t believe UGREEN offers this. UWB is nice if you have trouble finding things in your house or if you want to be able to pinpoint something on a lost-and-found counter. It doesn’t matter for longer distance tracking (did I leave the iPad at home or is it somewhere in my baggage.)

I have a set of Ugreen, bought them because of the price. Works really well, updates quick and is always online. The beeping is enough for me to locate them when I just displace something “locally”.
To be transparent I have never tried normal Airtags, so I might not know what I am missing. 
If you need accessories, AirTags probably has the largest variety available.
I purchased 2nd Gen AirTags to use with the Elevation Lab AA battery pack which lives in the trunk of my car.

I use both. AirTags in suitcases and keyrings but the Ugreen ones where I need something less bulky, such as my wallet and some - but not all - of my glasses case. The AirTags use batteries that need replacing and therefore aren’t environmentally sustainable whereas the Ugreens recharge on my MagSafe charger.

Don’t those trackers come with a CR2032 battery that has to be replaced, too? Does UGREEN offer trackers with a rechargeable battery? It may be a country thing? Those Chinese labels offer different flavors of their products in different markets…
I own several AirTags (1st gen) and a few UGREEN FineTrack SmartFinders. I am on the fence. The AirTags offer a sturdy built quality and UWB. The UGREEN FineTrack SmartFinders are very affordable, the build quality is ok. No UWB. They work fine. One of them starts beeping when it is moved even slightly, which is not normal, it may be on its way to breaking. I don’t know. The others are fine, though.
I bought the UGREEN Fine Track SmartFinder pack of four a few months before Apple introduced the AirTags 2nd gen. Would I have bought the UGREENs if the Apple AirTags 2 already were available back then? I don’t know. Apple’s AirTags come at a price, but I think they are worth it. Especially with the AirTags 2nd gen.

Small li-ion batteries (like CR2032) have a good recovery rate in recycling these days. But I take your point; being able to recharge is a plus of other trackers.
Fair point, and the Ugreens are largely plastic.

I’d be interested in understanding relative range.
I have a lot of AirTags 1 and sometimes they get detected later in plane unloading than I’d like.
I also have a credit card one in my wallet - but I forget who made that.
