Airmail is going to get that $40/year after all

Airmail’s 4x sub price increase inspired me to once again try Apple’s iOS Mail app. After two weeks, I have given up. The swipe configuration is an abomination and saving an email into devonthink as a pdf requires hitting the reply button and then clicking 4 more times. There is no way I will submit myself to this torture.

I wrote a whole paragraph filled with vile comments but I edited it down to the two most pleasant critiques. You’re welcome.

Is it really working that well for you? I remember having issues with email threads (especially longer ones) which is when I finally gave up. Well, also the dated design and the price increase at the time ($20).

I also tried switching to Mail from Superhuman earlier this year and within 48 hours I was back with Superhuman. I was spending between 30 minutes to 1 hour extra a day due to the extra clicks and badly designed interface, and this was with the most common functions mapped to a Streamdeck. I prefer the extra time with my family and paying $10 a month!

Apple Mail is both boring and very set in its ways. I liked Airmail for a time - right up until it got very buggy for me. Like not refreshing the screen when new emails arrived and other fundamental failures.

I’d hope it has gotten past all that, but it lasted many months at the time, so who knows.

Why would you do that when devonthink imports emails? Also, once in devonthink you can convert the email or batch convert with one right-click.

On iOS, you have to hit the reply button to print. That’s abomination enough - of course there aren’t very many good email clients on the phone anyway so I put up with it.

are you giving me your macOS workflow? I am talking iOS only here

In Spark, you can add the Export to… button to the toolbar, select export to PDF and save to DT. No subscription needed to do that.

My bad! Apologies!
