AirPods setting?

hey MPU,

Is there a setting that I am missing or something I need to configure properly?

Scenario 1

  • On the phone with AirPods in my ear, actively speaking. I walk to my desk to open an app and check something. AirPods connect to the mac automatically and ‘leave’ the phone call.

Result: Annoyed that my devices can’t recognize that I am on active phone call on my phone that is nowhere else, but feels the need to disconnect my AirPods that I am using.

Scenario 2

  • Phone rings, AirPods in ear, I can hear the ringing. I answer (while at my sit/stand desk for reference). AirPods disconnect from phone and connect to either iPad or Mac instead.

Result: same as above

That used to happen to me all the time. Set your AirPods to connect to your iPhone Automatically.

Then set your Mac and other devices to connect "When Last Connected . . . "

Happens with my AirPods Pro as well, I’ve disabled connecting to the MacBook Pro. I could be listening to an podcast in the kitchen with my phone and the AirPods would for no reason decide to connect to the mac in the office three rooms away.

The odd thing is that that eh Beats I use for exercise handle the switching far better and more consistently.

How did you accomplish this? I don’t see a setting for “disable,” and removing them prompts me that they’ll be removed from all of my Apple devices.

It’s in the article @WayneG linked above:

Oh, I see. I thought you were talking about a way to completely remove them from the Mac options. Thanks!

Ah, sorry no. but it never asks me to connect to the them or automatically does.
