I was startled when I pressed the usual steering wheel button to activate Siri on CarPlay and there is a very ugly chord (I am a musician). I’ve googled and searched to see if there’s a way to alter that sound but thus far, to no avail.
It’s probably a function of the car, so there might be something in vehicle settings that allows you to mute it or reduce the volume to very very low. It might be under something like Voice Control.
The new Siri alert in CarPlay with iOS 18.1 seems harsh and possibly starts with distortion. It’s hard to tell, but it definitely is not pleasant.
The prior one was a nice chime.
I assume the chord was changed on purpose, but the CarPlay version of it seems like a bug.
I don’t know if it is controlled by Apple or Toyota (in my case), but I have never found a way to change the volume of the sound, which might be a cause of the distortion and thus the harshness of the chord.
