Agreed, it isn’t as bad as IE. I also remember having to build entirely new websites, bad times!
However, I’ve had many contracts just to make web apps compatible with Safari.
I have not hit that low yet. I am sorry for your luck! Those are the dreaded projects.
I work as a contractor on this kind of work for both IBM and Oracle with great conditions and pay, so it’s not that bad! They push lots of work my way as they need to cater more and more to Mac users, and many of their older web apps are not Safari compatible. I’ve been specialising in this for years, and I find it gets easier with experience.

Super interesting job. Thanks for sharing from your experience! I have friends at Deloitte (not where I work, just intersecting social circles), and they do similar work making web-based Android and iOS apps more interoperable. Not the sort of work that brings me joy, so I’m glad there are folks like you out there I can refer to.
