An iPad workflow request on PDFs

As the beta iPadOS26 starts to feel more usable, I’ve begun to rely on it for more productive workflows. One flow, however, has me searching for a workable approach. Here it is:

I want to convert a collection of jpgs into a single PDF document. These PDFs are meant to be social carousels on Linkedin. I’ve tinkered with Preview as well as a couple of PDF readers, but I can’t seem to figure out how to do this in iPad. Any ideas on an app, shortcut, or something else that would make this workflow, flow?

The Thinking model of the paid version of GPT-5 suggested this solution. I have not tested it, so you will need to try it yourself to see if it works.

  1. Photos app → Print trick

  2. Open Photos. Tap Select, choose the images in the exact order you want.

  3. Tap Share, then Print.

  4. On the Printer Options screen, pinch out on any thumbnail to open a full-page preview.

  5. Tap Share, then Save to Files. This saves a multi-page PDF.

Tips: You can drag page thumbnails to reorder before saving. If margins appear, try switching each page to full-bleed by tapping it once in the preview.

  1. Files app → Create PDF

  2. Put all JPGs in a single folder in Files.

  3. In Files, tap the three dots, choose Select, then select the images in order.

  4. Tap the three dots again and choose Create PDF. Files creates a single multi-page PDF in that folder.

Tips: To control order, sort by Name and add leading numbers to filenames, for example 01, 02, 03.

  1. One-tap Shortcut (fastest once set up)

Create a personal shortcut in Shortcuts with these actions:

• Select Photos (Allow Multiple)

• Make PDF

• Save File or Share

Optional refinements:

• Add Resize Image before Make PDF to standardize dimensions.

• Add Ask Each Time for a save location.

This produces a clean multi-page PDF ready for upload as a LinkedIn “document” carousel.

Practical notes for LinkedIn carousels

• Use clear, high-resolution JPGs so text remains readable after LinkedIn compresses the PDF.

• Keep the total file size modest. Very large PDFs can fail to upload.

• Preview the final PDF in Files to confirm page order and legibility.

On iOS 18, you can simply select multiple images in the Files app (export them from Photos), and select Create PDF. It’s probably still an option in iOS/iPadOS 26.

Yes, this still works in iPadOS 26.

And here I am thinking that there was a jujitsu move that I had to learn to make this work! Thanks!

Although the export to PDF selection is rather hidden in the os26 menu

I think we all nowadays ask ChatGPT and other AI platforms for problem-solving advice. It’s at the point that querying AI is a cheap trick we can all play, with little community value.

For a tech discussion forum such as MPU however, I prefer to see people post actual solutions that they or someone they trust has worked out themselves, ideally. Otherwise we could end up posting things AI told us – and then what’s the point of the forum if it becomes a hearsay discussion between robots?

That’s fair. I shared the information from AI because I haven’t attempted to solve the problem myself. I believed it might be helpful to the original poster and others. However, I agree with your point. :slightly_smiling_face:

I agree 100%. I think Barrett was trying to be helpful but there is something about hearing how someone else solved a problem or learned to do something on their own and can share it with the group. I’m old school and remember the old Apple user groups that met on Saturday mornings at the local library to trade tips and tricks. I hope forums can keep that type of energy and enthusiasm going.

If the jpegs are in the files app, select them, right click (or long press), select quick actions, and Create PDF.:

This is an image from iPadOS 26, but the same workflow is available in iPadOS 18 and probably earlier.

Yes, in that sense posting an AI answer (without adding value yourself) does feel a bit like a LMGTFY response (even if it’s not meant that way) to me.
