Anyone try the Eney Beta?

Eney beta is a new Mac “assistant” (I assume AI) by MacPaw (CleanMyMac, Setapp) now being offered to those who sign up for the beta.

Here’s the description:

Here’s why Eney is a game changer for Mac:

  • Gets what you’re saying and gets your context
  • Goes beyond a chat — it actually solves tasks on Mac
  • Learns what you like and adapts to your preferences
  • Completes many tasks locally, without sending your data anywhere.

I signed up and got the download link, but now I am kind of afraid to install it. Has anyone tried it out yet?

Nice idea, sort of an AI Alfred, but none of its current abilities are any use to me now. But if it gets third party support from other things in SetApp, it could be pretty cool.

I saw their splash on Setapp, so went to the webpage to see what was being promised. (Eney - AI Assistant for Mac | Smarter Work on macOS). It looks a bit underwhelming at the moment, but it’s a beta and MacPaw are a good company.

However, I can’t imagine they’re doing themselves any favours with the branding: it would be difficult to think of anything less enticing that a bunch of pattern matches wanting to be your friend…

I guess this is the next frontier. Read Viticci’s excellent SKY article on Macstories…

Sky didn’t last long as an independent company.

Did Sky ever launch? I was on the email list, but it’s been radio silence since pretty much the welcome email.

And disappointing news this is. I’m not a fan of Mr. Altman.

Not that I saw. I’d rather they have been bought by Apple.
