I’m using the Otter AI app to record meetings in international contexts, but I’m looking for an app that works with languages other than English. It would be great if the app had a strict privacy policy, allowed me to manage and organise the recordings through AI tools (I know this might not be the best option from a privacy perspective), and possibly included a lifetime purchase mode. Which app do you recommend?
Download the open source Whisper algorithm from OpenAI. It comes packaged in a few different apps on the App Store (just search “Whisper”) if you’re not a coder.
No need for licensing, and it’s the best transcription tool out there.

Aiko by Sindre Sorhus is one of the available apps that comes packaged with a Whisper model and runs locally on your device. It supports 100+ languages. You can use it to record; or use any other app to record (such as Voice Memos) and let Aiko handle the transcription.

If you can’t find an all-in-one-app you prefer, keep in mind that it isn’t hard to record with one app and then feed the recording to another for transcription.
That might give you more choices and ability to automate your workflow better than a single good but not great all-in-one app?

PS - You can use OBS to record anything that you want on your computer and then you can feed the audio stream to some AI powered transcription tool.
