App Privacy Report

I just learned about the iOS 15 App Privacy Report. I’ve turned it on and am going to see what kind of data gets generated in the next week or so. The link says it’s in Beta but it’s been rolled out to 15.2

I’m curious who has it turned on and has found any privacy offenders. Any surprises out there?

Other than being overwhelmed at how many domains my apps talk to, I haven’t learned anything super amazing. I will be interested to start seeing what apps overlap each other on what sites they talk to.

This feature has been useful.
I discovered some non-arcade games that were talking to way too many domains and some apps that were accessing sensors they had no job accessing. Took care of them and felt better.

I discovered that my bank’s app – which I rarely use more than twice a month – is seeking out it’s mothership so frequently that it is in the top five network users.

I expected the email app that i use to be at the top of the network activity list.

I didn’t expect the Kindle app to be second (“I’ve already downloaded these books. Just let me read them!”) and I was a bit surprised that a weather app I’d mostly stopped using because it was so riddled with ads still managed to be third even with background app refresh turned off.
