Apple Contacts is Terrible. Are There Better Options for Mac & iOS?

I agree it’s the worst default app for me too. I keep having a weird sync issue (especially on my Macs), where “My Card” gets out of sync or deleted and a blank contact replaces it.

Forces my Mac to “forget” my photo and my user account gets a generic photo instead. Overtime, it keeps happening with my contacts too, i.e. in messages it would show a generic photo of them.

If I reset my Mac, that fixes it, until next time :smile:

Drives me crazy but have not found a solution. I use my iCloud account for contacts exclusively.

Export your contact card as a vCard (.vcf) and it will contain your photo as well as your data if you have to reimport it.

Apple Contacts will also allow you to export all your contacts to a single vCard.

Oh wow, that sort of worked! I didn’t automatically bring back my profile photo but it sort of unlocked my contact card. I just re-applied my profile photo and this time it stayed. Is it magic?
