After years of being an unhappy Spotify subscriber, I am now ready to move to Apple Music. I want the family sub between myself, my partner, and our 7-yr daughter. So far, my daughter hasn’t had her own Apple ID and uses an iPad that linked to mum’s Apple ID. Of late this is less than ideal because mum has an iPhone and MBA, too, and we’ve had to shut down most iCloud app, history, and other syncing as our child gets older and is becoming very agile around the device.
Can I run the child’s iPad that’s linked to mum’s Apple ID, but registered to the child’s own Apple Music account (so we can protect the library and history per user)?
OR
Do I need to bite the bullet and set my daughter up with her own Apple account, so we have three Apple IDs, linked to three Apple Music family subscription members?
I’ve been avoiding the latter because the child has many apps and in-app purchases on her mum’s Apple ID. I think we can make the apps available through family sharing, but I am not sure that all saved content and in-app purchases would transfer through (she’s spent a small fortune’s worth of pocket money on Toka Boka World … don’t ask!).
What an appropriate age for an Apple ID’s for your kids?
