Apple Opens Mid-2015 15-inch MacBook Pro Battery Recall, Urges Customers to Stop Using Machines

If you use one of these machines, you need to review this article by Apple:

Apple today announced a voluntary recall of a limited number of older generation 15-inch MacBook Pro units which contain a battery that may overheat and pose a safety risk. The units were sold primarily between September 2015 and February 2017 and can be identified by their product serial number.

Because customer safety is a top priority, Apple is asking customers to stop using affected 15-inch MacBook Pro units. Customers should visit for details on product eligibility and how to have a battery replaced, free of charge.

Yikes. Make sure to check your machines gang.

Thanks for the heads up (you gave on 512 Pixels)!

My machine at work is affected…

Guess I’ll be without my Precious for a couple of weeks.

My mid-2015 retina macbook pro is not affected. I feel disappointed. What is wrong with me? LOL!

Fortunately, my mid-2015 Retina MacBook Pro is not affected.

New battery would have been nice, but not 1-2 weeks without my laptop.

Original post title edited to reflect the expanded recall as of 2019-06-29.

The recall was not expanded. As Apple said it its original post, the “Mid-2015” models were sold until 2017. They did not add additional models to the recall. Here’s the somewhat confusing government page:
