Apple Password Companion App

I found a new app that I think some folks in the community will be interested in. I’ll deliver the goods up front then ramble.

It’s called Access

This new app works alongside Apple’s Password app to add the missing functionality you’d find in 1Password. Secure Documents, Credit Cards, Etc…

  • One time purchase or subscription
  • Leverages iCloud for Sync
  • Available on all platforms, including visionOS!
  • No account to create

I wish this had been around when I did my trial switch from 1Password to Apple Passwords, I might have stuck with it. I’m going to give this a try and see how it goes.

I had some confusion about Lifetime initially, but I found it.
The App Store page showed Lifetime available.

However, in the app:

Aha!
If in settings you go to Access+, you’re prompted to subscribe.
If you open “About Access” at the bottom there are two sections, one of which lets you buy Lifetime.

Quite some 1Password functionality is still missing though… (on Mac)

(SSH Agent, Connect, Service Accounts, SDK)

You’re right, perhaps I should have said add some of the missing functionality.

I’m surprised those features are in the personal 1P app, those are really geared to professional use.

Something doesn’t seem right about it, there’s no encrypted file per se it’s just using iCloud and possibly locked behind biometrics.
So unless you have the ADP you might well be exposed on your iCloud backups.

I could be missing something though.
