If Siri, Search, Apple Music, and Maps run on Amazon, I wonder what runs in Apple’s seven data centers?
The Weather App. Just kidding. I’m not sure but I was aware that Apple is Amazons largest AWS customer.
Your list does not include iCloud Drive, CloudKit, photo storage, or all of those 5 GB backup allowances that every Mac and iPhone user gets.
My guess was Apple probably outsourced most/all their consumer storage and ran everything else in house.
At one time Apple ran their email on Sun servers, used storage from IBM and EMC, and software from Oracle and SAP. And ran a lot of their online stuff, iTunes, etc. on a bunch of Xserve/Xserve RAID equipment. I thought they might still be running their business applications in one or more of their data centers.
I wouldn’t be surprised with Apple Intelligence that Apple doesn’t start to make a play for server space. With things like “login with Apple” giving Apple a clear space on the web that seems like an area of growth.
