Audio player that scrobbles to ListenBrainz/Koito?

Recently I set up Koito, a self-hosted ListenBrainz-compatible scrobbler.

I have never “scrobbled” before…

Which music player do you recommend on iPhone, iPad and Mac with ListBrainz/Koito support?

PS: For my purchased music I use Amperfy and Navidrome; that seems to work!

I’ve not seen this functionality before, Is the benefit simply to retain an independent record of the music you’ve listened to so you can listen across multiple services?

I’m actually not sure how I’m going to use it yet, but yes, that could indeed be a purpose.

I’m slightly confused as if you’re using Navirdrome and Amperfy, what exactly are you looking for? Navidrome will do the scrobbling for you from looking at the Koito website.

I got back in it to scrobbling last year, but I just use Last.fm - I use Doppler for playing my music locally on my Mac and iOS devices and that sends the data to Last.fm - and I use Nautaline to stream from the Navidrome server, and Navirdrome does the scrobbling for me.

As mentioned before I use Navidrome/Amperfy for music that I have bought, but sometimes I additionally rent music by subscribing to Apple Music or Spotify for a (few) month(s).

Koito could be a way to unite all listening stats?

I’m using Koito instead of last.fm/libre.fm because I’m not planning to share those stats and want to keep them private.

I’ve been scrobbling to last.fm for decades now (though not from iOS, which leaves a big hole in my numbers). It’s useful to track my own listening habits. It was useful in the past for social and recommendation discovery of music I might like, but these days I get my recommendations from a much wider range of services.

I also manually track every live music event I’ve ever been to on last.fm, which totals multiple hundreds at this point.

Sorry, I didn’t draw the distinction between own and rent. Afraid I’m not able to help in that instance, as I only use Last.fm.

A google for Koito + iOS scrobbler brings up this thread!

I think you’re out of luck currently if you don’t own the music.

I use Concert Archives for that.

Interesting! But a far cry from the elegant design and usability of last.fm

This macOS menu bar application scrobbles music to ListenBrainz/Koito:

It works for Spotify :tada:

Probably for Apple Music as well, since it “uses macOS Media Remote for universal media player support”.
