Automatically marking emails as read

First world problem here, but iPadOS has stopped the automatic marking of emails as read that I delete off the bat. Does anyone know how to reverse that? I.e. having emails that rare sent to trash as unread become read as they move to the bin?

Hope that makes sense.

I have noticed the same issue. I also notice that read emails I want to leave in my inbox or archive also don’t always get marked as read. I just figured it was a bug and would get sorted out in one of the forthcoming updates.
