Based on what I’ve heard Apple executives say, and what I’ve read online, this seems to be intentional. Apple does not want and does intend for the iPad to be as capable and flexible as the Mac. Their intent is for the iPad to be a companion to the Mac, not a replacement. From a user perspective, that is unfortunate. My preference, like Federico’s, is to use the iPad exclusively as my primary computing device. Unfortunately, as I posted here, while I can use the iPad for many things, I was unable to make it my exclusive computing device.
