What’s this? I’m SIM-only at this point, for about 10 years now, but I like to stay current in my knowledge.
Due to new rules implemented in the UK by OFCOM last year, when you sign a contract with any Comms company as a consumer, they have to tell you in pounds and pence how much your deal will rise over the term of your contract.
If the provider then increases their fees by more than they said, you can terminate (within 30 days of the notification to you) your contract with no penalty. This would only cover your Sim through, not any fees you’re paying to buy a phone.
I don’t know if this is part of the ploy, but O2 have announced recently that they’re going to increase bills by more than they said, but it’s not going to kick in until (I think) March 2026, but you can only terminate within 30 days of the notification.
So there will be people who will see the notification and put it to one side, or won’t even read it, but will more likely notice in March when the price goes up, but they’ll then be too late to terminate.
O2 would likely say that they gave plenty of notice to allow people to make adjustments. I’m a cynic though.
Thanks. I think you’re right to be cynical, it feels underhanded to me
Wow. That’s a bit of a slap in the face. Tmo has honored any plan we participated in - some we kept so long, I’d say we were great grandfathered in - and only changed plans as it suited us, generally to take advantage of some new benefit or equipment discount. Of course, I often read Europeans saying how US pricing is already relatively high. We’re currently paying $180/mo for 4 users for unlimited use and a high data cap, but that does include some extras. I’m not aware of all of them, but I do appreciate the included international roaming, Netflix, and MLB TV.
Hidden Bar is free. I never missed Bartender after switching in 2020 when it wasn’t working with Big Sur.
The last release of “hidden” was 4 years ago…
Does it work on Tahoe?
(Don’t have access to my Mac to check)
November check in - Bartender 6 on macOS 15.7.2 is more stable than ever! They had a few menu bar refresh issues that were fixed in the most recent patches.
It’s good to see frequent updates that address issues instead of add fluff features like new emojis or wallpaper. Apple could learn from them.
I’m not seeing any weird behaviors anymore, so now might be the perfect time to (re)join Team Bartender!
I think you can also hit spacebar to target whole windows once you’ve activated the screenshot mode but before you’ve started dragging the selection box. I’m not at my computer right now so I can’t check to confirm if it lets you go for any somewhat visible window or only the top/active one, but either way it sure is handy.
Yes. It works great on Tahoe. No problems.
