Battery Drain on iPad

Yesterday the battery on my iPad Pro (M4) went down quickly, from 100% - 12%. In my normal usage it is rare to get below 40%. So I went into Battery in the Settings app and Safari was the major culprit. Then I noticed that the tab which was visible had a lot of animations and autoplay videos. Most of the time I have the iPad in Windowed Apps mode and a good part of the day Safari was in the background, but I guess part of that webpage was visible on the screen. I’m a little surprised that 1 cr@ppy webpage would eat up so much of my battery. I thought iPadOS would be smarter about it. The lesson learned is if you’re on a junky webpage with autoplay videos and animations, close it as soon as possible.

It’s also sad how many websites destroy their user experience with this garbage.

Glad you found it!

I’m currently experiencing extreme battery drain on iPhones from multiple family members as well as my own Apple Watch (cellular) and I have no clue what’s causing this :frowning:

I’ve noticed my iPad battery hasn’t been lasting as long in the past few weeks. My guess is it might be due to all the patches Apple has issued since iOS/iPadOS 26 was launched.

As I recall, around 100 of them were for WebKit vulnerabilities.

Same here. I assumed it was due to recent updates as well. I have to charge in the middle of the day to make it last until bedtime.

That, and my iPad is getting extremely toasty as is my MBP. New development, never had it get hot before.
