I was a very happy user of UpNote (Google Firebase) but then I thought I’d rather use something that was easily encrypted at a base level (CloudKit with possibly ADP). Not that I have anything to hide, just being prudent.
That’s what they all say!
Actually, everything has something to hide; that’s the basis of personal privacy. Societal privacy is “nothing to hide publicly, but there’s nothing I want you to see”.
Is that better?
My favorite rejoinder to the “not having anything to hide” silliness is “I don’t have anything I want to share, either.”
Exactly this. I take notes of phone calls and meetings with other people, observations, letter drafts, and so on. None of it is “something to hide” in the sense of being illegal or immoral, but would I be happy (or would others be happy) with the information being made public? No.
I always say to people who use the comment “not having anything to hide” is if you don’t have anything to hide can I look through your email.
When you put it like that obviously people will say no. Privacy is important.
It’s a great update! Love that they support Apple’s Advanced Data Protection.
